The eco-resort’s design is deeply rooted in Gondarian architecture, (UNESCO) known for its unique styles that reflect the cultural identity of the region. Additionally, the chain churches, a series of historic churches in Ethiopia, have served as an inspiration, enhancing the authentic and cultural experience of the resort.
Sustainability and Nature Conservation
Sustainability is at the core of the resort’s development. To strengthen the natural ecosystem, 2,000 indigenous trees have been planted. The eco-resort, spanning 10 hectares, features a central building with a swimming pool and 45 villas within a nature park. Future expansions are planned, including the development of a recreational harbor.

In collaboration with the Tsedale Nega College, the resort has been established as a vocational training centre for tourism. The inauguration of the follow-up project Gorgora Eco Resort is expected to significantly boost local employment and promote cultural preservation by attracting both domestic and international tourists. This development is part of the broader “Dine for Nation” initiative, which aims to enhance Ethiopia’s tourism sector by developing key sites like Gorgora, thereby contributing to the country’s economic growth and global tourism appeal.
